Our boat plates are all from Southwest Aluminum Group, a company under Chinalco Group. While having the background support of national central enterprises, the Southwest Aluminum Ship Plate we sell has better material uniformity, a more complete certification system, greater specification capabilities, stronger brand reputation and technical services.
1. Product Advantages
1.1 High strength and lightweight: Our Southwest aluminum ship plates are made of high-performance aluminum alloys (such as 5xxx and 6xxx series), which ensure high strength while significantly lower than traditional steel ship plates, which can reduce the ship's own weight and improve cargo capacity, speed, and fuel efficiency.
1.2 Excellent corrosion resistance and low maintenance cost: Compared with other manufacturers' ship plates, our ship plates will be tested for peeling corrosion in Southwest Aluminum before leaving the factory to ensure that the hardness and corrosion performance of each aluminum alloy ship plate strictly meet the shipbuilding standards. Aluminum sheets quickly form an oxide film in the air, preventing further corrosion. The service life of the five series aluminum sheets can reach 20-30 years or even longer, greatly reducing the maintenance cost of the whole life cycle.
1.3 No low-temperature brittleness: The mechanical properties of aluminum plates do not deteriorate significantly at low temperatures. This makes it an ideal material for the cabins of liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers and polar vessels (icebreakers, research vessels), maintaining excellent safety and structural integrity in cryogenic environments.
1.4 Good processability and weldability: Aluminum plates have good plasticity and ductility, making them easy to cut, bend, stamp, and shape, making them easy to create complex hull lines and superstructures. Modern welding techniques enable high-quality welding of marine aluminum alloys to create strong and reliable connections.
1.5 Quality and certification system: From casting, heat soaking, rolling, heat treatment to finishing, the whole process adopts high standard quality control to ensure that the internal structure of the plate is uniform, the residual stress is low, and the performance anisotropy is small. At the same time, our boat plates have obtained certifications including BV, ABS, LR, DNV, RINA, and CCS, and have 100% quality assurance, giving you complete peace of mind.

3. Applications:
3.1 High-performance vessels and passenger ferries
High-speed passenger ships/ferries: Weight reduction directly translates to higher speeds, greater passenger capacity, and lower fuel consumption. Southwest Aluminum's high-strength 5083 and 5383 alloys are the core materials of hull structure.
Luxury yachts and superyachts: Aesthetics, weight, corrosion resistance and strength are the most demanding. Southwest aluminum plate can be used in hulls, superstructures, decks, flybridges, etc., and its good surface quality is suitable for polishing or anodizing, highlighting the sense of modernity and technology.
3.2 Military and official ships
Naval ships: Mainly used for the superstructure of destroyers and frigates. Lightweight design can significantly improve the stability, speed and endurance of the ship. The non-magnetic properties of Southwest aluminum are crucial for ship stealth and anti-magnetic mines.
Minesweeper ships: Non-magnetic is a rigidity requirement, and aluminum alloy is the only option for building hulls.
Coast guard ships, customs anti-smuggling boats: Require high speed and flexibility, and the advantages of aluminum alloy structure are obvious.
3.3 New energy and green ships
Electric/hybrid vessels: For battery-powered vessels, each ton of weight savings directly increases range or reduces battery configuration. Southwest aluminum ship plate is a key enabling material for realizing ship electrification and improving economy.
LNG-powered ships: Although the fuel is LNG, lightweight also helps improve energy efficiency. The good low-temperature toughness of the Southwest aluminum plate also makes it suitable for accessory structures around fuel tanks.
Green shipping vessels on inland waterways: In response to increasingly stringent emission regulations, it has become a trend to use aluminum alloys for weight reduction on inland passenger and cargo ships.
3.4 Polar and special environment vessels
LNG carriers: Transporting liquefied natural gas at -163°C, and using a large number of low-temperature resistant aluminum alloys (such as 5083-O) for the secondary screen wall of the cargo hold enclosure system and the support structure of the insulated box. Southwest Aluminum's related products have passed international certification and entered this high-end market.
Icebreakers and polar expedition ships: In extremely cold environments, the strength of the southwest aluminum ship plate does not decrease but rises, and there is no low-temperature brittleness, which ensures the absolute safety of the hull structure in the ice area.
3.5 High-performance dinghy with kits
Rescue boats and work boats: Light weight, high speed, and corrosion resistance.
Ship outfitting: Such as gangways, masts, etc., aluminum alloy is used to reduce the weight of the top and optimize the stability of the ship.
